If Your Child Is Off School

At St Margaret’s C of E Primary School, safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we must know where every child is each day. If your child is unable to attend school for any reason, it is the responsibility of the parent/carer to inform school promptly and provide the reason for the absence. All absences must be reported using the Absence Reporting section on ParentMail.

If an absence has not been reported, school will follow this up by contacting the key contacts listed on your child’s file. It is therefore essential that we have at least two emergency contacts in addition to the primary parent/carer contacts, and that all contact details are kept accurate and up to date. If we are unable to make contact with any of the listed contacts, school will carry out a home visit to establish the child’s whereabouts and ensure they are safe.

These procedures are not optional; they are an important part of our safeguarding responsibilities. Please make sure that every absence is reported promptly through ParentMail and that your child’s contact information is kept up to date. Your cooperation is vital in helping us to keep every child safe.
